STICKE FIGURES
Guest House Films Joins Forces with Proteus Pictures and Long-Time Collaborator Matthew Montgomery on “Sticke Figures”

LOS ANGELES [APRIL 6, 2009]— Following the recent honor of being named to Instinct Magazine’s “Leading Men of 2008” list for their contributions to gay cinema, Rob Williams and Rodney Johnson, co-founders of Guest House Films, have signed on to collaborate with the newly-formed Proteus Pictures on their first co-produced film, Sticke Figures.

Proteus Pictures was founded by Matthew Montgomery, who has served as a producer on all of Guest House Films’ previous productions. Montgomery wrote the script for Sticke Figures and will star as Joe Sticke, an openly gay artist in Chicago battling career and personal demons. When he learns of his ex-girlfriend’s death, Joe returns to his small Michigan hometown only to find a surprising inheritance – a seven-year-old daughter. He must decide how the little girl will fit in his life and whether to stay in the town from which he worked so hard to escape. Aprill Winney is attached to direct the film. Principal photography is expected to commence in Fall 2009.

Sticke Figures marks the first-ever joint production for Guest House Films, a film production company that has turned out four gay-themed films in the last three years, including Long-Term Relationship, Back Soon, 3-Day Weekend and the upcoming Make The Yuletide Gay, a family Christmas comedy starring Adamo Ruggiero ("Degrassi: The Next Generation"), Alison Arngrim ("Little House on the Prairie"), Gates McFadden ("Star Trek: The Next Generation") and newcomer Keith Jordan.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with Proteus Pictures for our first coproduction project,” said Johnson. “We were immediately drawn in by Matthew’s intriguing screenplay, and having known and worked with him for years, we jumped at the chance to collaborate on this film.”

“Working with Guest House Films over the past few years has given me not only the inspiration but also the confidence to shape my career and future with my own hands,” said Montgomery. “Rob and Rodney have been an immense guiding force in the birth of Proteus Pictures, and I anticipate a long and fruitful relationship between our two production companies for many years ahead.”

Over the past 10 years, Matthew Montgomery has garnered a cult-like following of loyal, enthusiastic fans for his work in films such as Gone But Not Forgotten; the romantic comedy Long-Term Relationship; the supernatural drama Back Soon (which earned him the Best Actor Award from FilmOut San Diego); and the sci-fi thriller Socket. His upcoming films include The Redwoods (scheduled for a Summer 2009 release), PORNOGRAPHY – A Thriller and Socially Registered (shooting in 2009).

VAN ALLEN'S ECSTASY
Guest House Films Plans Cinematic Adaptation of Jim Tushinski’s Acclaimed Novel, "Van Allen’s Ecstasy"

LOS ANGELES [JAN. 27, 2009]— After producing a series of films from original screenplays by writer/director and co-founder Rob Williams, Guest House Films is hitting the books with a screen adaptation of the critically acclaimed Jim Tushinski novel Van Allen’s Ecstasy, to which the company recently optioned the motion picture rights. Williams will write the screenplay adaptation and direct the film, to be produced by the Guest House Films team of Williams, Rodney Johnson and Matthew Montgomery.

Van Allen’s Ecstasy is the story of Michael Van Allen, a man born into a prodigiously talented family, including a highly respected concert pianist and an equally renowned painter. Following a breakdown during one of his father’s performances, Michael awakens in a mental hospital with his memory gone and his former life erased. As he begins piecing together the puzzle of his forgotten life, he uncovers evidence of jealousy, obsession and secret desires, which threaten to destroy his sanity all over again.

“I'm very excited to have the book adapted into a film and reach a broader audience through a different medium,” said Tushinski. “I'm confident that the unique vision of the folks at Guest House Films will result in a film that will both entertain and surprise me.”

The adaptation of Van Allen’s Ecstasy is one of several projects in development at Guest House Films, following the successful releases of Long-Term Relationship, Back Soon and 3-Day Weekend, as well as its most recent production, a family Christmas comedy called Make the Yuletide Gay.

Based in Los Angeles, Guest House Films has quickly become respected as one of the most prolific producers in the gay film genre. Instinct Magazine recently named founders Williams and Johnson to its “Leading Men of 2008” list for their contributions to indie cinema.
